Welcome to OWU 

Welcome to Ohio Wesleyan University! We are thrilled you have decided to join our community for the Spring 2012 semester. To help get you acclimated to OWU academically and otherwise, you will be required to participate in our January StART (Student Advising, Registration and Testing) and Orientation Program scheduled for Sunday, January 15, 2012. Classes for the spring semester begin on Monday, January 16, 2012.

Below are some important details about your participation in StART/Orientation and about your time at OWU:

1. The Schedule of Events for StART/Orientation can be found at this link: http://start.owu.edu/StARTOWUJanuaryProgramSchedule.html. It is during this program that you will meet individually with a Registration Guide to schedule your spring semester courses.
2. If you haven’t done so already, you need to complete the following items:
1. Online Housing Application: http://reslife.owu.edu/application (You will need your username and password to complete this form. Please call the Admission Office at 740-368-3020 or the Residential Life Office at 740-368-3175 if you cannot locate your username and/or password).
2. Home Commuter and Housing Exception Form (if you are eligible to commute and/or live off-campus): http://reslife.owu.edu/pdfs/HousingExemptionForm.pdf
3. For those students living on campus, you may move into your assigned residence hall room on Saturday, January 14^th anytime between 2 – 7 p.m.. Once you arrive to campus, you should report to your assigned residence building where there will be signs posted indicating a phone number to call to gain entrance into the building AND to get checked in. If you have not yet received your housing assignment and you have completed the required housing application (listed above), please contact the Residential Life Office at 740-368-3175.
4. It is important that all incoming students have appropriate medical records/forms on file. If you haven’t done so already, please return (or bring with you to StART/Orientation) the Required Medical Forms that can be downloaded at this site: http://health.owu.edu/healthServiceForms.html
5. We ask that you complete the Academic Advising Information Sheet at this link: http://start.owu.edu/pdfs/AdvisingProfile.pdf and fax it to 740-368-3499 ASAP.
6. For Transfer Students - the OWU Registrar’s staff has evaluated your transcripts for transfer credit. A copy of your transfer credit evaluation has been mailed to you and a copy will be in your advising file when you meet with your Registration Guide on Saturday. You will need to contact the Chairperson of the Department of your major to determine transfer credit for courses related to your major. This may not apply to undeclared majors or students who have not taken courses related to their intended major at OWU. Additionally, your admission counselor, Linda O’Horo, will meet you at StART/Orientation on Sunday.
7. Check-In for StART/Orientation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 15^th in the Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, Atrium. Your parents and/or family are welcome to attend the program as well. As you can see from the Schedule, some sessions are designed specifically for them.
8. During StART/Orientation, you will be able to get your laptop, netbook or mobile device configured to be connected to the BishopNet Wireless Network. If you plan to take advantage of this, please be sure to bring any devices you’d like to be configured.
